Integrated Fault & Service Management

Operational Excellence!

Integrated Fault & Service Management

The explosive growth of public and private networks, as well as the convergence of voice and data, resulted in complicated multi-technology, multi-vendor management systems.

In most cases, a vendor's management system manages specific network elements, so undoubtedly there is an inability to seamlessly integrate critical operational data residing in disparate management systems. Furthermore, there is a need to monitor the services spanning across different technologies and systems.

For such environments, INTRACOM TELECOM offers an integrated fault & service management solution, based on HP TeMIP, which is positioned on top of the existing Element Managers / Network Elements to interface with other OSS systems and to provide an integrated management view of the operator's network and services.

The integrated fault & service management solution from INTRACOM TELECOM brings significant benefits to demanding operators:

Improved Efficiency of Network Operations

  • Automated correlation and root-cause analysis, enabling NOC technicians and engineering staff to manage their workloads more efficiently.
  • Alarm management and geographical / logical views, providing NOC staff a picture of the entire network and capabilities to drill down to specific problems.
  • Flexible filtering and alarm charting, allowing NOC technicians and managers to organize alarms strategically across various network and service domains.
  • NOC staff can determine which faults (and to what extent) have impact to customer services before dispatching maintenance crews.

Accelerated Time-to-Market for New Services

  • OSS/J & EAI APIs and Gateways providing open access to other OSS systems.
  • Interfaces toward Trouble Ticketing, Inventory, Performance and other management systems.

Visualized Impact on Delivered Services

  • Identifying problems at network-device level faster and more accurately, and zero in on the precise localization.
  • Preempting service problems before customers are affected.
  • Validating impact on services and customers to help reducing unnecessary truck-rolls.

Care for Customers

  • Managing service problems to increase the quality of delivered services and directly reduce churn, while improving customer loyalty.

Increased Customer Satisfaction

  • Enabling the integration of inventory / network status / customer care information, for:
    • Automatically determining the scope and impact of a network fault.
    • Automatically creating a customer care trouble ticket when service is impacted.
    • Providing real-time status of customer's network and services toward customer care systems.

Technical Overview

INTRACOM TELECOM delivers innovative and high-quality solutions for network & service assurance, based on Hewlett Packard's TeMIP platform.

Acting either as a systems Integrator and delivering a turnkey solution, or collaborating with customer project teams, INTRACOM TELECOM offers a full range of TeMIP implementation services: from requirements analysis and system architecture, to installation, customization and development of TeMIP modules, to systems integration, commissioning, testing and support.

The following table lists the technology domains and vendors covered so far. This list is continuously updated.

Domain Vendors
Transmission Ericsson, Nokia, Coriant, Huawei, NEC, INTRACOM TELECOM
Switching / 2G / 3G    Ericsson, Nokia, Huawei, Italtel, Motorola
Access Ericsson, Nokia, Huawei
IP Switches Cisco
VAS Ericsson, Acision, Comverse, Sema, Starhome, INTRACOM TELECOM

The in-house TeMIP engineers and developers are all HP-trained, while for the development of TeMIP Access and Functional modules, HP toolkits are utilized. Currently, INTRACOM TELECOM offers a big library of off-the-shelf TeMIP Access Modules to meet any operator demand.

For telco operators already running TeMIP systems, INTRACOM TELECOM offers highly-valued consulting and customization services, such as:

  • Auditing and problem reporting for TeMIP environments..
  • Gap analysis (between 'as-is' and 'to-be').
  • Functional specifications for new requirements.
  • TeMIP migration services.
  • Expansion of TeMIP access modules, in terms of:
    • Fine-grain modeling.
    • Alarm mapping to the affected managed objects.
    • Creation of new containment hierarchies and new attributes.
    • Implementation of new corrective filters or Functional Modules (FM) for advanced correlation.
  • Configuration / customization of the operator's environment (operation contexts, maps, filters, security profiles, etc.).
  • Inter-domain alarm correlation, Root Cause Analysis, Service Impact Analysis with HP UCA (Unified Correlation Analyzer)
